THE INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY FOR LEADERSHIP THROUGH ADVENTURE (IALA) IS A WELL- KNOWN SOUTH AFRICAN ADVENTURE- BASED LEADERSHIP ACADEMY, ENABLING AND DEVELOPING LEADERS THROUGH ADVENTURE.

Our Journey
Our journey started 14 years ago in Stellenbosch when Professor Piet du Plessis and his son Charl, started the adventure-based Gap year program. This was bought over by Jan Heenop, the owner since 2012. The present curriculum is based upon a syllabus accepted by CATHSSETA as a formal qualification. Gap year students and full-time students follow a similar program. Gap year students do not follow an academic syllabus though, but a program filled with experiential learning activities. The main campus is in Still Bay.
